Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, organized its Customer Meet 2026 in Hyderabad on the theme “Role of Strategic Materials in Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The event brought together leading scientists, industry experts, and representatives from strategic sectors to discuss the importance of advanced materials in strengthening India’s self-reliance and supporting the vision of a developed nation by 2047.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Jaiteerth R. Joshi, Director General, BrahMos (DRDO) and CEO & Managing Director, BrahMos Aerospace, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman & Chief Executive, Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), as the Guest of Honour. Senior leadership of MIDHANI, including Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murty, CMD, Smt. K. Madhubala, Director (Finance) & CFO,Shri P. Babu, Director (Production & Marketing); and Smt. Spurthi Reddy, IRS, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), MIDHANI attended the event.

In his keynote address, Dr. Narayana Murty highlighted the critical role of strategic materials in the defence, aerospace, space, nuclear and energy sectors, and emphasized MIDHANI’s continued efforts towards indigenous development of advanced materials such as superalloys, titanium alloys and special steels.

The technical sessions featured presentations by experts from MIDHANI, HAL, ISRO, NFC, DRDO and BHEL, focusing on emerging technologies, advanced material requirements and opportunities for collaboration across strategic sectors.

A panel discussion on “Role of Strategic Materials in Viksit Bharat 2047” deliberated on strengthening indigenous capabilities, enhancing supply-chain resilience and accelerating innovation in critical materials. Experts stressed that self-reliance in strategic materials is essential for supporting India’s future growth in defence, aerospace, clean energy and advanced manufacturing.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from scientists, engineers, researchers and industry professionals, reaffirming MIDHANI’s commitment to contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through innovation and excellence in materials engineering.
