Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a Miniratna Category-I Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, has successfully achieved a significant milestone by indigenously producing Armour Grade Aluminium Alloy Wide Plates for defence applications for the first time in India.

Manufactured using MIDHANI’s state-of-the-art Wide Plate Mill, the development demonstrates the Company’s capability to process high-strength 7XXX series aluminium alloy plates for strategic defence applications. This achievement, along with the successful development of 2XXX series wide aluminium alloy plates, establishes MIDHANI as the first Indian organization with indigenous capability for forging and rolling wide hard aluminium alloy plates.

The milestone strengthens India’s self-reliance in critical defence materials, reduces import dependence and reinforces MIDHANI’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through advanced materials and indigenous technologies.
